No, this is not the lift-off of Apollo 11 en route to a landing on the Moon. It is a on-tenth scale replica of the famous rocket that lifted men and machines to the Moon for landings on six occasions.. The massive model is the heaviest that has ever been launched and safely recovered. On the launch pad, it stood 36 feet high and weighed 1,648 pounds. It cost its builder, Steve Eves from Ohio, about $30,000.
The flight took the single-stage vehicle to a height of 4,441 feet where it separated into sections, each of which was lowered to earth on a parachute.
