A few types of collage are shown on this page. Although they are quite different in style, design and purpose, they are all assembled by juxtaposing a selection of related images in a particular manner with a view to telling a story.

The first collage was assembled for a model who needed a card to present to a model agency. The dozen images were simply combined in Photoshop using a basic grid, and the model's personal details were then added in the centre. The arrangement of the images is clearly rigid but serves an obvious purpose when handed to an agent by the model.

The second collage incorporates an number of images showing architectural styles from various parts of the world. The individual images were created in different sizes and assembled on a backround provided by a picture of a white wall featuring regular rows of windows.

All the collages shown are thematic - ie the individual images all reveal different views and aspects of related subjects. However, collages having a narrative style are also possible. They are closer to image sequences because they show the same subject, or related subjects, in slightly different circumstances as time progresses. The result tells a story but is nevertheless presented as a collage. The unfolding events typically progress around the collage, across it from left to right, or down from the top to the bottom. The third collage showing the white-water rafting satisfies both categories of work - thematic and sequential.
