Photographers wishing to submit images to the Society (OPS) should do so using email attachments directed to the submissions office. CDs and DVDs are accepted only rarely and under exceptional circumstances. Large images may be uploaded using the facility available under "Upload Image". Please note that all submitted images are permanently deleted from the Society's computers and media when they are no longer required by the Society. No images are returned to the submitting photographers. However, images may remain in the Society's website backups for some time. All correspondence is handled by email.
Submission of images to the Society for inclusion on the website will be regarded as granting permission to publish the material. Authors submitting images which they do not wish to be used on the website, or for which they do not own the sole copyright, must clearly state this in their submission email. Photographers submitting images of people should ensure that they are in possession of appropriate model release authority where this is required. The Society cannot accept any responsibility for the publication of images for which the author does not have sole copyright or appropriate model release.
Images should be in JPEG format and sized in accordance with the relevant criteria for exhibitions, galleries or comment and review. Where images are submitted for multiple purposes, the larger size and higher quality criteria are applicable.
Photographers who submit images are advised that material displayed on any website may be copied or downloaded - there is no way to prevent this. Submitting photographers may add watermarks to their images should they wish to do so - OPS will not do this. A method for creating basic watermarks is described in the digital image enhancement section. Those who prefer to have the right click function disabled for their galleries may do so by requesting this in their submission email.
Please note that the Society's standards of acceptance apply to all website images.
