In the UK, police officers do not have the power to delete digital images, destroy film-based images or prevent photography in a public place under Sections 43 or 44 of The Terrorism Act 2000. Once an image has been recorded, the police have no power to delete or confiscate it without a court order unless they suspect the image contains evidence of a crime.
